CARE OF LATEX

So now that your brand-new Latex garment is in your hands…how do you wear it? Latex doesn’t have to be intimidating! Here are a few pointers to help you take care of your pieces.

HOW TO WEAR:

When your garment arrives it will appear matte and have a thin layer of talcum covering. This is completely normal as talcum powder is used to finish the garment as well as to ensure it makes its way to you in the best condition.

As you put your new piece on you may use some more unscented talcum/baby powder or alternatively a latex friendly dressing aid/lube will really help if it's rather tight or doesn't have a zip.

Your Latex can be shined using a silicone polish or spray. The silicone polish is easy to use, and best applied with a lint free cloth or your hands. It is a lot easier to shine the garment while it is already on!

Be careful when dressing while wearing jewellery, body piercings or long nails as these can rip the garment - you can wear gloves to avoid nails digging into the material. Metal (especially copper) can permanently stain lighter colours of Latex so we recommend avoiding contact with it. Staining from metal left on the skin can also be transferred to the garment, so it best to wash any affected area of the body thoroughly before dressing.

Some of our items have metal fastenings or embellishments like zips and O-Rings. Black latex will not stain, but if your garment is made in any other colour then it is best to keep metal components wrapped in tissue paper or cling film when not worn, especially after using polish.

HOW TO WASH:

Make sure you wash your Latex as soon as possible after use! Use a little gentle soap in warm water, move the garment around and rinse in clean warm water to remove soap residues. Leave your garment to drip dry and turn it inside our half-way to ensure it is fully dry. It might form a milky sheen during this process, this however is completely normal and will disappear once the item is fully dry.

HOW TO STORE:

Once the garment is fully dry, you can then talc the inside and polish the outside to keep the rubber moisturised, or talc it both inside and out if you are planning to fold and store it. If you do so, make sure you place it in a sealed bag away from dust and sunlight.
